Nannaal (நன்னாள்) – Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 October 2026
Nannaal is a Tamil calendar and panchangam app for Android and iPhone, published by Mithratech ("we").
What we collect
We collect no personal information ourselves.
- All calendar and panchangam data is bundled inside the app and works offline.
- The app has no account or login.
- Your settings (notification choices, review prompt status, usage counters) are stored only on your device. They are deleted when you uninstall the app.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows ads through Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect:
- your device's advertising ID
- IP address and approximate location
- device and app information
- interactions with ads
Google uses this data as described in its policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, UK and some US states), you are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown. You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your phone's settings.
Usage statistics (Google Firebase Analytics)
To learn which screens are useful, the app sends anonymous usage events to Google Firebase Analytics: which screens are opened, whether a day or kural was shared, whether search found results. It also sends a random app-instance ID and basic device information (model, Android version, approximate country). We never send your name, phone number, rasi or birth details. You can turn this off in Settings › பயன்பாட்டுத் தரவு. Google's policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Ad-free purchases
Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Google Play on Android and by the Apple App Store on iPhone. We receive only confirmation that your store account owns the ad-free product; we never see your payment details. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in your Google Play or Apple ID settings.
Invite rewards
To count invite rewards, the app sends a one-way hash of a device identifier: the Android ID on Android, or a random ID that the app stores in the iPhone Keychain. The raw ID never leaves the phone, and the hash is not linked to your name, phone number, Google account or Apple ID. It lets one phone credit an invite only once, even after a reinstall. It is stored on our server (Google Firebase, India region) with:
- your invite code
- how many friends installed through it
- the date your reward ends
- which code, if any, you were invited with
Our server also sees the IP address of each reward request, which is used only to limit abuse. To delete this data, email us your invite code.
Calendar data updates
The app checks our server about once a day for corrected calendar data (for example the next year's holidays). It downloads only the calendar file; nothing about you is sent.
Sponsored content
Some days show a card from a brand that sponsors the app, labelled "விளம்பரம்". Its image is loaded from our server or the brand's. Tapping it opens the brand's website, which has its own privacy policy. We count views and taps without any identifier.
Permissions
- Internet: to load ads and sponsor cards, check purchases, and count invite rewards. The calendar itself works without it.
- iPhone: the app does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- Notifications: to show the morning panchangam (at the time you choose), festival and chandrashtamam reminders. You can turn them off in Settings.
- Run at startup (Android): to restore those reminders after your phone restarts.
Sharing the app
When you use "Invite friends", the text is passed to the app you choose (WhatsApp, SMS…). We do not see who you share with.
Children
Nannaal is not directed at children under 13, and ads are not personalised for users known to be children.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page.
